Host Amateur Cricket Club (ACC) were crowned champions in the 3rd PVR Murthy Memorial Inter-Club Cricket Tournament, defeating Sunrise Club by 23 runs in the final at BOSE Ground here today.
Experienced state allrounder Niranjan Behera hit a half-century and picked up two wickets to be adjudged the man of the match. His ACC teammates Kameswar Barik and Nirmal Chakraborty pocketed the prizes as man of the tournament and best bowler respectively.
Six teams participated in this tournament, which was inaugurated by Odia film director Debu Pattnaik in the presence of ACC secretary P Vikram.
RESULTS:
April 10 (Match No 1): Jagatpur Athletic Association 85/9 in 20 overs (Bikash Rout 3/16, Manoj Das 2/14) lost to Royal Club 86/3 (Jyotiranjan Parida 20*; Nirmala Chakraborty 2/7-2) by 7 wkts. MoM: Bikas Rout.
April 11 (Match No 2): Super Star XI 114/10 in 17.4 overs (Budha Mallick 36; Sanjib Mitra 3/9, T Shankar Rao 2/12) lost to Medical Friends XI 115/5 in 14 overs (Bibhu Prasad Behera 46; Debu Pattnaik 2/18) by 5 wkts. MoM: Bibhu Prasad Behera.
April 12 (Match No 3, SF): Sunrise Club 163/5 in 18 overs (Lokranjan Routray 43, Ranjan Routray 40; Tapan Behera 2/22) beat Royal Club 148/7 in 18 overs (Tapan Behera 42, Jyotiranjan Parida 27; Lokranjan Routray 2/33; Kabu Barik 2/45) by 15 runs. MoM: Lokranjan Routray.
April 13 (Match No 4, SF): Amateur Cricket Club 195/3 in 18 overs (Kameswar Barik 117, Tapendra Singh 30) beat Medical Friends XI 120/8 in 18 overs (Kalia Sahu 26; Md Akram 2/6, Niranjan Behera 2/18, Tapendra Singh 2/24) by 75 runs. MoM: Kameswar Barik.
April 14 (Match No 5, Final): Amateur Cricket Club 138/7 in 20 overs (Niranjan Behara 53, Md Akram 35; Satya Ranjan 2/22, Ranjan Routray 2/17) beat Sunrise Club 115/10 in 19.2 overs (Roshan Swain 36, Ranjan Routray 30; Niranjan Behera 2/21, Md Akram 2/26, Tapendra Singh 2/26) by 23 runs.
